Property for Sale in Angera, Lombardy
Angera lies at the southern end of Lake Maggiore, on the Lombard shore in the Province of Varese. Facing Arona across a narrow stretch of water, it is a small, settled lakeside town, and the homes for sale here are large villas and a country house in the green hills behind the shore.
The Town, the Rocca and the Shore
Angera is dominated by the Rocca Borromeo, a medieval fortress on a limestone hill above the town, still owned by the Borromeo family and known for its frescoed halls and its museum of dolls and toys. Below it, a tree-lined promenade runs along the water past the small harbour, the beaches and the cafés of the old centre.

Further north on the same shore is Laveno-Mombello, with its ferry to the Piedmont side, while Varese and its own lake lie inland to the east.
Property for Sale in Angera
Villas with gardens and lake views make up most of what is for sale, together with a rustic country house set in its own grounds. This is the upper end of the lake market: every property is priced above €1 million, and the largest villas with several bedrooms approach €2.5 million.
Everyday Life and Getting There
Angera has supermarkets, a pharmacy, schools and restaurants, so it can be lived in all year rather than only in summer. Sesto Calende, where the Ticino leaves the lake, is close by for further shops and services.

Milan Malpensa airport is a short drive to the south, which makes Angera one of the most convenient lake towns for frequent travellers, and the motorways towards Milan are within easy reach. Milan Linate and Bergamo airports are further away.
Buying in Angera
Villas near the shore should be checked for rising damp and for the condition of any boathouse, jetty or mooring, along with the paperwork that covers them. The lakeside is protected landscape, so alterations to gardens and facades need approval.

A country house with land may include outbuildings added over many decades. Ask a local geometra to compare each building with the registered plans and to confirm that all of them hold the necessary permits.
