Property for Sale in Cassinasco, Piedmont
Cassinasco is a small hilltop village south of Canelli, in the Province of Asti, on the edge of the Langa Astigiana. It sits high above the vineyards of the Belbo valley, in an area where the gentle Monferrato hills give way to the steeper, wilder Langa.
The Village and Its Hills
The village is small and quiet, with a parish church and houses strung along the ridge. Many older buildings in the area are built from pietra di Langa, the local sandstone, which gives farmhouses and walls their warm grey and honey tones. Woods, hazelnut groves and vineyards cover the slopes.
Canelli is just below the village, and Calosso and Rocchetta Palafea are among the neighbouring wine villages.
Property for Sale in Cassinasco
The listings are farmhouses, two of them presented as renovation projects at around €120,000, and a restored historic country house in Langa stone at a higher price. Four-bedroom homes are typical, so there is plenty of space for the money.
Everyday Life and Getting There
Cassinasco has very few services, so residents rely on Canelli for supermarkets, schools, doctors and markets. Restaurants and wineries in the surrounding villages are part of the appeal.
The nearest main-line station is Asti, with trains to Turin and Genoa, and the A33 and A21 motorways are reached via Asti. Turin, Genoa and Milan airports are all within reach.
Buying in Cassinasco
Renovation projects should be costed carefully: roofs, structure, damp and services can add significantly to the price. Check winter access on hill roads, and whether the house has mains water and drainage.
A geometra working locally can verify that ruined or partly collapsed buildings are recorded at the land registry and explain what the comune will allow you to restore.
