Property for Sale in Dolceacqua, Liguria
Dolceacqua is a medieval village in the Nervia valley, a few kilometres inland from Ventimiglia, in the Province of Imperia. It is one of the best-known villages of western Liguria, close to the French border and the Riviera.
The Village and the Nervia Valley
The old village climbs a hillside beneath the ruined castle of the Doria family and is joined to the newer quarter across the river by a high, single-arched stone bridge, a scene painted by Claude Monet. Narrow covered alleys run between tall stone houses. The surrounding terraces grow olives and the vines of Rossese di Dolceacqua, a local red wine.
Further up the valley are Pigna and Castel Vittorio, while Perinaldo sits on a ridge to the east. On the coast, Ventimiglia and Bordighera are a short drive away.

The listings here are mainly building plots on the hillsides around the village, some with views of the castle, along with a residential project on the heights above it. Prices are modest for the Riviera, roughly €120,000 to €200,000 for the land.
Everyday Life and Getting There
The village has small shops, bars and restaurants, and Ventimiglia provides supermarkets, a hospital and its large Friday market. Beaches on both the Italian and French Riviera are close.
Ventimiglia station has trains along the Italian coast and across the border to Monaco and Nice, and the A10 motorway has an exit at Ventimiglia. Nice airport is the closest, with Genoa as an alternative.
Buying in Dolceacqua
On a building plot, nothing should be assumed from the listing: ask the comune in writing what the current plan allows, how much can be built, and whether access, water and electricity are available. Terraced land often needs retaining walls, and steep sites raise construction costs.
Liguria has landscape protection along much of its hills and some areas carry landslide risk. A local geometra or architect should review the planning designation and cadastral boundaries of the plot before you sign a preliminary agreement.
