Property for Sale in Farindola, Abruzzo

Farindola is a mountain village on the eastern slopes of the Gran Sasso, in the Province of Pescara. It lies within the Gran Sasso and Monti della Laga National Park, where pastures and beech woods give way to the high limestone peaks.

The Village and the Mountains

Farindola is a traditional stone village with a small centre, surrounded by hamlets spread across the hillsides. It is best known for Pecorino di Farindola, a sheep’s cheese made with pig rennet, and for the mountain landscape that draws walkers, cyclists and nature lovers.

Further down the hills are Montebello di Bertona and Civitella Casanova, while Penne is the nearest larger town with a full range of services.

Property for Sale in Farindola

The homes for sale are small village houses and townhouses, usually with two or three bedrooms. Prices are low: properties here are generally below €80,000, and some cost much less, which makes them suitable as simple holiday homes or renovation projects.

Everyday Life and Getting There

Farindola has a few shops, bars and a pharmacy, while Penne provides a hospital, supermarkets and schools. The Adriatic beaches are within reach for a day out, so mountains and sea can both be part of everyday life.

Abruzzo Airport at Pescara is the nearest, with Rome airports further away. The A14 and A25 motorways serve the area, but a car is essential, as public transport in the mountains is limited.

Buying in Farindola

Winters are cold and snowy at this altitude, so check heating systems, insulation and road access in bad weather. Village houses that have been empty for years may need new roofs, wiring and plumbing.

This part of Abruzzo is seismic, so structural checks are important. Ask a geometra to verify title, cadastral data and permits, and to look for any inheritance issues with older houses that might have several owners.
