Property for Sale in Golfo Aranci, Sardinia

Golfo Aranci is a seaside town at the tip of the promontory that closes the Gulf of Olbia to the north, in the Province of Olbia Tempio. It is a ferry port and resort on the north-east coast of Sardinia, just south of the Costa Smeralda.

The Town and the Coast

The town grew up around its harbour and railway, and is now a mix of fishing port, ferry terminal and holiday resort. Around it are sandy coves with clear water, while the headland of Capo Figari rises to the north as a protected area. Dolphins are often seen in the gulf.

To the north, the Costa Smeralda begins with its bays and resorts, including Porto Cervo and Golfo Pevero in the comune of Arzachena.

Everyday Life and Getting There

Golfo Aranci has supermarkets, restaurants, bars and a pharmacy, while Olbia provides a hospital, schools and larger shops. The town is lively in summer and much quieter in winter, when many holiday homes are closed.

Ferries run from Golfo Aranci to Livorno and other mainland ports, and the town has a railway station on the line to Olbia. Olbia Costa Smeralda airport is close, with flights to the UK and Europe, especially in summer.

Buying in Golfo Aranci

Coastal properties in Sardinia are subject to strict landscape and building rules, particularly near the shoreline, so check that every part of a villa has been authorised. Sea air causes wear, so look at metalwork, plaster and pools.

Many villas are in residential complexes with shared services and fees. A geometra should review the cadastral documents and the planning permits, and confirm that any amnesty applications were completed.
