Property for Sale in Loreto Aprutino, Abruzzo
Loreto Aprutino is a hill town in the Province of Pescara, set on a ridge between the Adriatic coast and the Gran Sasso massif. It is surrounded by olive groves and is one of the best-known olive oil towns in Abruzzo.
The Town and Its Surroundings
The old town climbs to its main church and castle, with brick palazzi and steep lanes giving views to the mountains on one side and towards the sea on the other. Just outside the centre, the church of Santa Maria in Piano is known for its medieval frescoes, including a large Last Judgement. The town also has a museum dedicated to olive oil.
Penne is the nearest larger town, a short way inland, and the villages of Collecorvino, Elice and Civitella Casanova are all close by.

Everyday Life and Getting There
Loreto Aprutino has shops, bars, a pharmacy, schools and a weekly market, with hospitals and larger shopping centres in Penne and Pescara. The beaches of the Adriatic coast are easily reached, and in winter the ski slopes of the Gran Sasso are not far.

Buying in Loreto Aprutino
Abruzzo is an earthquake area, so ask whether an older house has had seismic improvement works and get the structure inspected before you commit. Townhouses in the centre may have limited parking and steep access.
Brick and stone houses in the old town can suffer from damp and tired roofs. A geometra from the area can confirm that the property, including any later additions, corresponds to the cadastral plan and the planning permits.
