Property for Sale in Perinaldo, Liguria
Perinaldo is a hilltop village in the far west of Liguria, in the Province of Imperia, a short drive inland from Bordighera and the Riviera dei Fiori. From its ridge there are views over olive terraces to the sea and to the Alps.
The Village and Its Surroundings
Perinaldo is the birthplace of the astronomer Giovanni Domenico Cassini, and the village has an astronomical observatory open to visitors. Its old centre runs along the ridge, with stone houses, archways, churches and terraces looking out over the hills.
The surrounding countryside is terraced with olive groves and vines. The coast at Bordighera and Sanremo is reached down the valleys, Dolceacqua lies in the Nervia valley to the west, and Vallebona is in the hills towards the sea.
Property for Sale in Perinaldo
Apartments in the historic centre, often with terraces and sea views, make up much of what is for sale, together with houses and villas among the olive groves. Many homes cost between €150,000 and €350,000, while a larger villa and a vineyard estate are priced higher.
Everyday Life and Getting There
The village has a few shops and restaurants, with supermarkets, schools and a hospital on the coast at Bordighera and Sanremo. The French Riviera is close, and Monaco and Nice can be visited for the day.
The A10 motorway runs along the coast with an exit at Bordighera, and trains on the coastal line stop at Bordighera and Ventimiglia. Nice airport is the closest international airport, with Genoa as an alternative.
Buying in Perinaldo
In a hilltop village, check parking, as many houses can only be reached on foot. Terraced olive groves need maintenance of dry-stone walls, and properties on slopes should be checked for stability and drainage.
A vineyard or estate with development potential needs careful confirmation of what the comune would allow. Before signing, a geometra should confirm that the apartment or house matches the cadastral plan and that any terraces or changes have been authorised.
