Property for Sale in Teramo, Abruzzo
Teramo is the provincial capital of the Province of Teramo in northern Abruzzo, set between the Gran Sasso massif and the Adriatic coast. It is a compact university city with Roman remains and a medieval cathedral, surrounded by rolling farmland.
The City and Its Surroundings
The centre stands where two rivers meet, with the cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta, the remains of a Roman theatre and amphitheatre and a pedestrian main street of shops and cafés. The countryside around is a landscape of olive groves, vineyards and small hill villages, with the peaks of the Gran Sasso to the south-west.
Within reach are Castelli, a village famous for its ceramics, the hill town of Atri, and villages such as Cellino Attanasio and Montefino.

Everyday Life and Getting There
Teramo has a hospital, a university, supermarkets and all the services of a provincial capital. The Adriatic beaches and the ski slopes of the Gran Sasso are both within a day trip.

Buying in Teramo
The province lies in an active seismic zone and was affected by the earthquakes of 2009 and 2016, so ask for documents showing any repairs or structural upgrades. Some homes may have state-funded reconstruction work linked to them.
Country villas often have outbuildings and agricultural land. A geometra from the province should check that the buildings correspond to the cadastral maps and planning consents before you commit.
