Property for Sale in Vallebona, Liguria
Vallebona is a small hill village on the western Riviera, in the Province of Imperia, a short drive inland from Bordighera. Set on a ridge among olive groves, it combines village life with sea views and quick access to the coast.
The Village and Its Surroundings
The old centre is a tight cluster of stone houses, arches and stepped lanes, built for defence in the Middle Ages. Around it, terraced hillsides of olives, flowers and Mediterranean scrub run down towards the sea, with scattered villas and the hamlet of Madonna della Neve.
On the coast are Bordighera, Ospedaletti and Sanremo, while Perinaldo and Dolceacqua lie further into the hills. The French border is close.
Property for Sale in Vallebona
Villas dominate, often with sea views and land, together with an apartment in a villa and a contemporary villa project with approval for a pool. Prices are mid-range for the Riviera, mostly between €300,000 and €500,000, with the largest villa at around €700,000.
Everyday Life and Getting There
The village has a few local shops and restaurants, with supermarkets, schools and hospitals in Bordighera and Sanremo. The mild climate makes it pleasant all year.
Bordighera station is on the coastal railway between Genoa and Ventimiglia, and the A10 motorway is nearby. Nice airport is the closest, and Genoa is an alternative.
Buying in Vallebona
Hillside homes are often reached by narrow, steep roads, and terraces need retaining walls in good repair. Ligurian hillsides can be prone to landslips after heavy rain.
For a villa project, confirm that the permit is still valid and what it allows. A Ligurian geometra should match the property against the cadastral data and planning authorisations.
