Townhouse in Montalcino, Siena, Italy

Cannon openings on the top floor confirm its military nature of a defensive outpost during the long wars between Siena and Florence. After 1453 it became the country residence of a noble family of Counts who further expanded the structure, and added a graceful octagonal family chapel. After seven centuries of history, most of its architectural features have been perfectly preserved. The interiors features brick walls, arches, colonnades, and stunning ceilings some vaulted and some embellished with 17th-century frescoes. Renovation works are needed for residential and/or receptive purposes. A restoration project, aimed at the preservation of centuries of history, has already been approved in full respect of the landscape and architectural constraints. A project with excellent potential for the transformation of this medieval jewel into an elegant residence to live with family and friends, or to host travelers and memorable events.
