Description

An astonishing example of an over-a-thousand-year-old castle transformed into an aristocratic residence with a country resort, pool and restaurant for sale in Siena. On a hilltop overlooking the Val d’Arbia, in the countryside just outside Siena, only 20 minutes away, stands Castello Mill’Anni an imposing medieval complex that surely already existed before the year 1000, initially with four towers and later transformed into a noble palace and hunting lodge belonging to the aristocratic family that has maintained the ownership for more than five centuries and still owns it today. The numerous historical text accounts of the more than 1,000 years lived in this place guide us to discover the stories and events of a past that aims to be preserved.

Surrounded by a garden with tall cypress trees, ornamental plants and a swimming pool with a panorama of the surrounding hills, the castle is spread over three floors facing an inner courtyard where the XVI-century arches and colonnades signed by Architect Peruzzi give an aristocratic and elegant style to this unique residence. The interiors feature wooden beams, terracotta floors, and typical stone fireplaces, and house 17 self-contained apartments, partly housing travelers during their holidays in Tuscany and partly living all year around. The view is lost from all the windows on the hills and cypress trees designing the landscape. Outside the castle, a two-level farmhouse has been set near the pool, with a restaurant on the ground floor and three apartments on the upper floor. For those searching for an authentic residence with a long history, whether for private use or for a tourist-accommodation facility, Castello Mill’Anni is a property that conquers and offers excellent potential to transport its history into the third millennium.
